Why Lymphatic Drainage Should Be Part of Your Wellness Routine

Why Lymphatic Drainage Should Be Part of Your Wellness Routine

Lymphatic drainage is something many people have heard about—but few actually do consistently. For years, I thought dry brushing was the answer. It wasn’t until last year that I realized I had been doing it all wrong. The real magic? A simple hands-only approach that takes just a few minutes and doesn’t require any special tools.

Before diving into the how, let’s talk about the why. The benefits of lymphatic drainage include:

  • Reduced swelling
  • Improved circulation
  • Enhanced immune function
  • Natural detoxification

Personally, I noticed a reduction in swelling almost immediately—from my face to my fingers, even the slight bulge at the back of my neck. And let’s be honest, the biggest hurdle for many of us is thinking we don’t have time. I felt the same way, which led to years of inconsistency. But once I learned this simplified method (that doesn’t include dry brushing), it became part of my regular shower routine.

My 3–5 Minute Lymphatic Drainage Routine

Note: I am not a medical professional. Always do your own research or consult with a healthcare provider before beginning any new health practices.
  1. Deep Breathing – This stimulates the lymph nodes in your abdomen.
  2. Collarbones – Using your index and middle fingers, gently massage on either side in long, smooth strokes.
  3. Jawline & Ears – With the same fingers, start just above your earlobes and move down the jawline.
  4. Neck – Use your knuckles to massage both sides down toward your collarbone.
  5. Armpits – Use all your fingers to massage each armpit in circular motions for 5–10 seconds.
  6. Abdomen – Place one hand above and one below your belly button and gently rub back and forth.
  7. Groin – Massage in circular motions up and down with light pressure.
  8. Legs – Start at the thighs, then behind the knees, and finally around the ankles, repeating on each leg.
  9. Face – Massage along the sides of the nose, under the eyes, chin, cheekbones, and eyebrows using gentle knuckle pressure.
  10. Jumping – Finish with light jumps (heels lifted, toes on the ground) to help the lymph fluid begin to move and drain.

You don’t need any oil or balm for this, but if you prefer a moisturizing aid, our Tallow Balm is a perfect addition.

Why We Chose a Balm (Not Whipped)

You might wonder why we use a solid balm instead of a whipped version. Here’s why:

Whipped balms are filled with air to increase volume, which means you’re often paying more for less product. Not only does whipped tallow run out faster, but you usually need to apply more of it. Our concentrated balm lasts longer, works harder, and gives you the full benefit of every ingredient.

At TwoMorrows Apothecary, our balms are made with you in mind—crafted to deliver deep nourishment and better value, without compromise.

Use it to nourish your skin or incorporate it into your lymphatic drainage routine. Either way, your body will thank you.

Wishing you nourished, radiant skin and many beautiful tomorrows,

With gratitude,
